Titel: Jay Auteur: Elisabeth Laird Summary: Jay is a book about the girl Cassie, she lives an ordinary life with her parents, her brother Jay and her best friend Ven. When Cassie gets ill, everything goes wrong. Cassie is just coming out of bed, she feels ill and tired. Cassie is already ill for weeks and it didn’t get better. That day Cassie went early to bed, she was lying there for a few minutes when her brother Jay knocked on the door. He told Cassie that he wanted to quit school, Cassie said to him that his mom and dad would never agree with that but Jay told her to back off. The next morning Jay didn’t go to school, his mom told him to go but he didn’t listen to her. When his dad came back from a business trip, he get real mad at Jay and didn’t wanted to talk to Jay anymore. The mother of Jay and Cassie was in tears and felt really down because of Jay. Jay was mad and went to his room, Cassie ran after him because she wanted to talk. Jay didn’t wanted to listen to Cassie but Cassie didn’t stopped talking to him and she told him that he should listen to dad, but Jay told Cassie: ‘Why should I listen to a man like him, he only cares about his girlfriend, not about us’! Cassie was shocked about his words, didn’t said a thing and went to her own room. Did her dad really had a girlfriend, and what about mum, was he going to leave them? That night Cassie cried herself to sleep. Cassie wasn’t doing very well, her illness was making her very tired and weak. Jay was skipping school and wasn’t much at home anymore. After a very big row, there dad told Jay to leave and that he never wanted to see him again. Jay really left and Cassie’s mum was so angry with Cassie’s dad, that he left to. Cassie and her mum didn’t hear a thing from Jay and there dad, Cassie’s mum was in a terrible state. Cassie wasn’t so ill and she went to the mall with her friend Ven. They went to a store where they sold make-up and when they leaved the shop, Cassie saw a boy, sitting in a corner, asking for money, she was shocked, it was her brother Jay. Cassie walked to him and started talking to him, first he wouldn’t listen but after a wile he did. When Cassie started to talk about there dad Jay got real angry and told her to leave him alone. Cassie couldn’t tell her mum about this, but she was so worried about him. Cassie’s mum was spending a lot of her time at the police station to find out something about them. At Christmas they where alone and it was a terrible day because they didn’t hear a thing from Jay and there dad. When the phone rang Cassie’s mum run to the phone and the next moment they where on there way to the police station to see Jay. They didn’t know why Jay was at the police station but Cassie’s mum was already happy to see him again after all this time. A policeman told Cassie and her mom that Jay was totally in panic and that Jay had used all kinds of drugs, at that moment they heard Jay screaming and they run of to the noise. Jay was gone totally mad, he was creaming and crying. When Cassie and her mother went in to the room where Jay was in, he screamed and he didn’t stop creaming till Cassie’s mum went out with the doctor. Cassie was alone with her brother now, she didn’t say a word but after a few minutes Jay stand up and went to Cassie and he gave her a hug like he always did when he lived at home. After a few minutes there mum and the doctor went in to the room again and the doctor asked Cassie if she could take him to the police van because he had to go to the hospital. After a few months Jay was fine and left the hospital, he went home again! After that time everything was going better with Jay and Cassie. Jay started to do his hobby’s again! Even the contact with there dad and his girlfriend was getting better, his girlfriend was really nice actually. Cassie’s mum even had a sort of a new boyfriend. There lives where fine by now, Cassie, Jay and there mum and dad where all happy. |
